THE PETER PUGGER-MIXER

The Peter Pugger-Mixer is a unique self-unloading clay mixer with a pugmill output. Mixing and pugging are combined in a single machine so clay handling is greatly reduced. High quality drive components are combined with simplicity of design to make a long-lasting, hard working, cost effective addition to your studio.

The Pugger-Mixer makes clay mixing quick and easy. Just add water to a batch of dry ingredients in the mixing chamber. Allow the powerful mixing action to completely homogenize the clay body, then switch to pugging action and the Pugger-Mixer unloads itself thru the pugmill, leaving the operator free to cut off and handle the extrusion, Clay handling is greatly reduced without the heavy labor of transferring wet clay from separate mixer to independent pugmill... hours and effort saved for productive work. Knowing the true composition of the working clay and convenient salvaging of scrap gives the Pugger-Mixer owner both product control and economy with a single space-saving machine costing little more than individual mixer or pugmill.Peter pugger 50 & 100

With more than 16 years performance in working and educational studios, this rugged equipment continues to win enthusiastic acclaim for labor and real dollar savings. Easily operated by a single person... load dry clay. add water, mix, pug, cut off extruded, compacted "logs." Then just one machine to clean by simple disassembly of cast aluminum condensing funnel and nozzle for convenient wash down of auger and hopper.

Stainless steel shaft, auger and paddles along with the cast aluminum mixing and pugging chambers make the Pugger-Mixer well suited for handling iron-free clays. The two year guarantee combined with all heavy duty construction and durable drive components help keep operating costs low over the long term.

Peter Puggers still in operation after nearly two decades of regular use attest to their durability.

CONVENIENCE

Eight inch wheels make the Pugger-Mixer easily portable. The formica on top of the drive housing provides a convenient work surface. The mix/pug switch is mounted forward so it can be reached from the operator’s side during loading or from the nozzle during extruding. A batch capacity of 100 pounds of dry ingredients per load yields over 600 lbs. of pugged product per hour, for model PM-100, with a pugging capacity of 2,000 lbs. per hour.* For model PM-50, 50 pound batches yield 300 lbs. per hour of pugged product, with a pug rate of 1,200 lbs. per hour.*

"Rates vary depending an clay condition and feed rale.

CLEANING PM-100 Pugger-Mixer

Thorough cleaning is easy with the pugging chamber and nozzle removed. Complete access to the auger blades allows the parts to be scraped or hosed clean quickly. Cleaning is minimized or even eliminated if the openings are sealed with plastic between regular uses.

SAFETY

For operator’s protection, the Pugger-Mixer will run only with hopper lid closed.

VERSATILITY

The Peter Pugger-Mixer performs a variety of functions efficiently. 1t will mix wet clay from dry rapidly and thoroughly. It blends clay bodies. II. reclaims scrap. Then it automatically extrudes the complete mixture in round logs. In addition to its batch mixing capability, the Peter Pugger-Mixer may be continuously fed like a conventional pugmill. Just drop the clay into the mixing chamber and the rnachine will compact the clay and return it to you in compacted logs. An endless number of shapes can be extruded by clamping dies on the nozzle.

HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION

The Peter Pugger-Mixer is heavily built thruout. A frame of welded steel plate encloses the drive and supports the auger shaft and cast aluminum clay chamber. The main shaft is 2" solid stainless steel in the PM-100 model, 1’/," in the PM-50 model, with stainless steel paddles and auger. Rotational power is provided by an industrial rated AC electric motor, close coupled to a gear reduction transmission. Extra heavy sprockets and roller chain complete the drive. Overload protection is provided in the magnetic motor starter,
