FIRECLAY HAWTHORNE 35 MESH (FCHAW) Minimum order quantity is 10 lbs. This is the main fireclay we use when we want a clay with texture. The rough grind helps minimize shrinkage, and adds tooth. 11.5% shrinkage at cone 10, 1.85% absorption.

IRON OXIDE BLACK 5599 (Ferrous) (FEOXBL) may be used in glaze formulations and in most cases gives the same color as Iron Oxide Red. With titanium in a high-fire glaze, it can give off a matte red. Minimum order quantity is 1 lb.

IRON OXIDE RED 82%-86% SPANISH (Ferric) (FEOXCL) is also known as Hematite. RED IRON OXIDE is the stable form of iron and no matter what form is added to a glaze or clay, firing converts it into Fe2O3. Iron is both a colorant and a flux. We stock two strenghts of IRON OXIDE RED. One is IRON OXIDE RED (Clay Body) with 86% Fe. The other is IRON OXIDE RED (Glaze Body) with 99% Fe. Minimum order quantity is 1 lb.

IRON OXIDE YELLOW 5087 (Hydrated Ferric) (FEOXY) is similar to black and red iron but it tends to give lighter colors in the buff to cream range. Minimum order quantity is 1 lb.

KAOLIN GEORGIA 6 TILE (KAO6T) is a kaolin made for use in the tile pressing industry, has good plasticity, perhaps because it has bentonite added . . . or so the rumor goes. Minimum order quantity is 10 lbs.

SAND 90 MESH SILICA (SAND90) is a 99% pure, sharp angle grind silica sand with less than .02% iron oxide. Good for opening, and adding throwability to clay bodies. Invisible in the finished product. Minimum order quantity is 10 lbs. 50 Lb. bag, also for making glass.
