Aura 22-A New Idea in Gold Embellishment

Concept
Tiny particles of pure gold (91.6%) are blended with 8.4% fine silver particles to create a precious metal with deep yellow color and the ability to fuse to silver at relatively low temperatures. The result is a layer of gold that is considerably thicker than possible with electroplating.
Uses
Aura 22 is ideally suited to work with all versions of PMC and metal clay. It can also be used on wrought fine silver and, with care, on sterling that has been properly prepared (see be low). Unlike electroplating, Aura 22 requires no special equipment. Because it can be painted on, Aura 22 offers gestural responses unlike any other gold layering process. It is especially recommended for heavily textured surfaces, and for embellishing areas that would be difficult to cover with alternative techniques. Aura 22 involves almost no waste and a relatively small investment. A one gram package can usually embellish 20-30 objects.

Applying
The proper consistency of the material is a creamy paste that spreads like nail polish. Each package comes with a bottle of Media, which can be used to refresh the Aura22 if it dries. Add a drop or two, allow to sit for a few minutes, then stir. Use a scribe, a large sewing needle, or similar smooth tools-extra Aura22 can be easily wiped off and returned to the container.
The surface of the metal should be cean and dry. No other special preparation is necessary. Apply an even layer of Aura 22 with a scribe, paintbrush, or rubber tipped tool. Uneven thickness will show up as different shades of gold. Two layers are usually sufficient, but three layers will guarantee a rich, pure gold color. Allow the Aura 22 to dry, completely between layers, usually 20-30 minutes. Do not force the drying (for instance with a hair dryer) be cause this hardens the outer surface and traps moisture inside. There is no ...

SIL-SHEET Silver PMC+ Sheet 6cmx6cm 7g
PMC Paper is made of PMC+ and can be folded like origami paper and fired. It can be cut woven and layered. It dries very slowly.

How to Use PMC+ Sheet

Basic Forming
You can cut PMC Sheet with scissors or razor knife, or tear it to achieve a ragged edge. You can even draw pencil lines to determine the shapes you want. Join elements by using PMC paste like a glue to make thicker sheets, moisten two pieces lightly with clean water, press the sheets firmly together and set a weight on top until the joint seats. PMC Sheet has the same shrinkage arid firing specifications as other versions of PMC+, but it will not dry out as fast, It can be combined with original PMC, but remember to adjust for the different rates of shrinkage.
Firing
Time Temperature
10 minutes 900° centigrade 1650° Fahrenheit
20 minutes 850° centigrade 1560° Fahrenheit
30 minutes 800° centigrade 1470° Fahrenheit
Dont torch fire!
PMC can be tired in any kiln that will hold the correct temperature for the required time. A small programmable kiln is ideal. Set the work on ceramic bisque tiles, soft brick, or soldering pads. Irregular shapes should be supported on alumina hydrate or vermiculite (avoid breathing any fine dust).

Finishing
After firing, all versions of PMC display a matte white surface. To polish, burnish with a smooth steel tool or scrub with fine wool or soft brass Brush. PMCSheet, like other versions, can be soldered, plated and enameled.

Health and Safety
Though rare, it is possible for certain individuals to experience skin rash or itchiness after contact with PMC. If you have a reaction, discontinue use. Consult a physician if the problem persists. Wash Hands after use.

The primary difference is in its firing temperature which is significantly lower than the other versions. PMC3 can be fired at three time/temp settings: 10 minutes at 1290 F (700 C) 20 minutes at 1200 F (650 C) 30 minutes at 1110 F (600 C.)
